Do you want to upgrade?
There are a variety of things that you can do to improve the quality of the scope itself without extra bits of kit. You can get a more precise focus mechanism, high quality mirrors, fit motors to a manual mount, changing the telescope tube but keeping the mount and so forth. There is no reason to go out and spend only to leave the thing in frustration in the shed, it may be better to start with a simple scope and if the passion is still with you have a look at what can be done to improve your equipment. The only decision that you need to make is that you must buy a telescope that allows you to upgrade it in the first instance.
As you can see when asking the question " what telescope do I buy " there is no right or wrong answer, it is a difficult choice, do some research and set a strict budget and get some advice from some people who have seen it, done it, bust it, and are still at it.
Good hunting.
